The retail price of RON 97 reduced by 10 sen, but the price of diesel and RON 95 fuel remained constant during the period from Sept 8 to 14.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) in a statement today said in order to protect consumers from the increase in world oil prices, the ceiling price for RON95, and diesel remained at RM2.05 per litre and RM2.15 per litre respectively, even though the actual market price of the product increased above the price current ceiling.

Meanwhile, the retail price of RON97 fuel changed from RM4.30 to RM4.20 per litre.

According to MOF, the new price is established based on the weekly retail price of petroleum products utilising the Automatic Price Mechanism (APM) formula.

"The government will continue to monitor the effect of fluctuations in international crude oil prices and take relevant steps to guarantee the welfare and well-being of the people continues to be safeguarded," according to the statement.
