According to Interactive Broker, this is the the calculation of how the free share will be awarded:

Your Welcome Share Balance will increase upon a deposit into your Referred Account based on the following formula: Number of Shares Awarded = (Deposit Value X .01) / (Closing Price Per Share of IBKR on the day of the deposit).

For example, if the closing price of IBKR shares is $50 and you deposit $10,000, your Welcome Share Balance for that day will increase by two (2) shares [($10,000 x .01) / $50 = 2]
